about

By this time, we were literally begging Ed to come up with ideas, since he was (and is) tremendously imaginative and creative. Little Fyodor and I (Evan Cantor) were prodigiously creative during this time, but Ed didn't have easy access to the recording equipment in the Hall Of Genius like we did, plus, for whatever reasons, he wasn't as highly motivated. In response to our encouragement, he recorded sounds at Stapleton Airport (Denver) where he worked. We credited him with the composition despite the fact that his primary contribution was the tape itself and this was more a group effort than a solo piece. The airport theme is vaguely stated by "Kings of Speed" and more explicitly by the track "Eight Hours In Newark", making an association between the dead time spent at airports and the dead time spent on bad dates. Ed very likely had no intention of making such an association, but within the "concept album" perspective, it worked.

Walls of Genius rips holes in the fabric of space and time, kicks you in the ass and leaves you smiling. 80s stalwarts of the cassette culture, they're back in the 21st century. The most unique band that ever was. Really! ... more
