about

This is one of the last great unreleased tracks from 'The Dirt Clods', a pre-WoG incarnation of the band. Here Evan Cantor croons a bastardized version of the Irving Berlin classic 'Blue Skies' while Ed Fowler runs a sports recording about the Baltimore Orioles in the background (or is it the foreground?) and twiddles a little lead guitar. Like the previous track, this was recorded live, most likely in Ed's livingroom. The business of the Baltimore Orioles was likely a vinyl lp from Ed's collection of "bad records" and the track recorded on Ed's boombox. Ed's collection included the first William Shatner record, many years before his camp approach was recognized as a kind of weird genius, as well as discs from Leonard Nimoy and Telly Savalas.

Walls of Genius rips holes in the fabric of space and time, kicks you in the ass and leaves you smiling. 80s stalwarts of the cassette culture, they're back in the 21st century. The most unique band that ever was. Really! ... more
